About Gokyo Lake Trek - 12 days

Gokyo Lake Trek in Nepal is probably a trip to a fairyland place up in the mountains. Imagine yourself at the shores of a blue turquoise lake gazing at the blue sky beyond lofty snowcapped mountains. It is indeed the best place to spend a memorable walking holiday.

There are numerous trekking trails in the Everest region. In fact, the Everest region of Nepal is the home of the world’s tallest mountains like Everest, Cho Oyu, and Lhotse. Therefore, the place is a jewel in the Nepal Trekking scene. The name of Gokyo Lake is the third lake within the Lake System of the area. The place is also listed under the Ramsar Site. Therefore, it holds a special place among the Khumbu people. Moreover, the third lake represents the god among the people. Every year people celebrate the festival in Lake Shores.

There are five lakes in Gokyo. It is believed that all the lakes are connected underground too. However, there is no proof of this myth. Among these five lakes, the third lake is where most people visit or trek. However, during the Gokyo Lake Trek trekkers trek all these lakes. Gokyo Trek follows the same route as Everest Base Camp Trek until Kyangjuma. Everest Base Camp Trek trekkers take the route of Tengboche while the Gokyo trekkers take the route of Mongla Danda. The trail is through the narrow valley behind mountains like Choaltse and Taboche.

However, trekkers of Everest Base Camp get a view of these mountains on their left but Assertive here they view these mountains on the right side. The sight of Mt. Choyou in the far distance straight ahead keeps on motivating the trekkers. There is not much uphill and downhill to walk on the trail.

However, if you want to climb the Gokyo Ri, you will have to walk uphill having an inclination of almost 75 degrees.  Book this trek with us. Relish the stupendous and momentous journey of your life. Explore the blue turquoise lake and Sherpa hamlets as well as beautiful mountains in less than a week. It is indeed the must-to-do trekking route in Nepal.

    Useful Information

How hard is Gokyo Lake Trek?

The difficulty level of Gokyo Lake Trek is easy to moderate. It is not as hard as three high passes trek but it is also not an easy trekking route. Once trekkers reach the first lake, altitude sickness might be the problem. However, in comparison to Everest Base Camp Trek, it is an easier trail to trek on.

Despite it being a short trekking route, trekkers need to take precautions on every trekking trip journey in the Everest region. The major challenges on the trek are high altitude and thin air

    Vegetation & Landscape

Landscape and Vegetation during trekking are more rewarding than Everest Base Camp Trek. Trekkers are able to trek in a narrow valley, green lush forests, river banks, and lake shores. They can experience temperate to alpine forests along the way. The trail is also the best route to trek on if you want to encounter wild goats, dance, and other wild animals.

    Gokyo Ri

This is the famous hill located on the shores of Gokyo Lake. The top of the hill is famous for both sunrise and sunset views. Moreover, it is an ideal place to look into the four top 10 mountains of the world (Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Makalu). 360-degree views of mountains and picturesque Lake View from the top make this hill a paradise for photographers.

    Why Gokyo Lake Trek?

It is the short trekking route among trekking routes in the Everest region. You can finish the trek in less than a week. There are diverse attractions on the trail. Lakes, rivers, waterfalls, monasteries, Sherpa villages, narrow valleys, moraines, and vantage points (Gokyo RI) make this place a must-visit place.

Gokyo Lake also falls during the Three High Passes Trek as well as during Chola Pass EBC Trek. Therefore, you can extend your trek too once you reach the Gokyo.
